The May 2018 release for Kindred Stamps has arrived and, with it, all of the anticipation of what is coming next! I played with three new sets--Classified, Lovebugs, and Tea Friends. The other shares will be coming (I know, I've been busy and haven't blogged my Coloring Guide and makes yet for Masters of Magic, but it is coming); I have already drafted the latter two sets though, so make sure you subscribe below to get the updates.
Classified is such a fun set, containing two character stamps, two sentiments, and one set of building sentiments (three stamps).

(Note: I have enjoyed adding a dot of white gel pen to the eyes lately.)
I created three card projects using this set. I even have a FREE printable download of the template I use for the mini file folder on the first card!! Hooray! It perfectly holds a wallet sized image or printout. How fun to put the recipients picture inside that X classified file! You can download the Mini File Folder Template HERE!! (You are welcome!)
For the "Life the flap" sentiment on folder, I used Lawn Fawn's Push Here stamp set . The background printouts I obtained online and printed in wallet size.
To hold the file folder closed, I used a plain old paper clip. I stamped the sentiment in red on a scrap of paper and glued over a "Top Secret" document. You could use a birth certificate (covering the date, hence the sentiment.. I totally should have done that on second thought; my dad is getting this for his birthday).
My second card is simpler, with a gnarly tree silhouette from Sizzix for Stampin Up Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies (141842). I used a galaxy background I had on hand for the twilight sky and stamped the sentiment onto a circle of vellum that doubles as the moon. The galaxy background was made following my YouTube video tutorial.
The star dust twinkle in the night sky was achieved with Tonic Studios Nuvo Mica Mist in Antique Gold. Yes, I use that mist often because I love it.
I did double up the tree silhouette, diecutting two of the images and gluing together to provide better structure to the tree and a bit more dimension.
As a fun play on the sentiment "You're a fox", I used a newer Kindred Stamps set called Inseparable Friends. I thought it would be silly to have that adorable little fox saying "You're a fox" to our special agent there, set in an outdoor scene. Lawn Fawn's A Birdie Told Me stamp set and their Meadow Borders dies were used on this card. Some simple ink blending in the background warmed the scene.
I know, it is ridiculous, but fun (I hope). I hope you've enjoyed my fun cards! I'd love to know which is your favorite of the three? I really love the top one with the mini folder. :)
