You're Kind of Old

Happy Thursday!!  I am not sure about all of you, but this has been a busy week!  I was happily able to finish up this super cute card though!  And, the best news.. all elements are free digital images from new, up-and-coming stamp company Beth Duff Designs.  The company is hosting their first card challenge, Snarky Sentiments, and I couldn't wait to play along!

To see more inspiration, download the digital file, and submit your own snarky entry, you can reach Beth Duff Designs's challenge blog HERE.

I am also submitting this card for Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Make Your Own Background!  For this challenge, click HERE to see all the amazing makes from their designers and to submit your entry too!

To create this fun card with Mr. Grumpy up there, I printed the images on 80# Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored with Copic markers.  I wanted to keep the colors fairly dino-neutral (that's a thing, right?) since he is just in a funk.  I mean, no one WANTS to be old so I suppose he is having one of "those" days.  I cut a piece of 110# Neenah Solar White cardstock in half the long way (4.25" x 11") and scored in the middle (at 5.5") to create a top-folding notecard.  To create that amazing embossed dinosaur image, I used Echo Park's Dinosaur embossing folder (click HERE to see their entire Dino Friends collection).

To enhance the embossed background, I very lightly dusted Forest Moss Distress Ink over the raised dinosaurs.  I love this effect!  Then I cut the smaller panel from  My Favorite Things Blueprint 15 for the Mr. Grumpy Pants and the tab from the same set using scrap brown cardstock.  I used a stencil I made from Lawn Fawn's Puffy Cloud Borders dies to ink a darker blue sky with Stormy Sky Distress Ink.  Using a scrap of paper, I sponged on the ground with Walnut Stain Distress Ink leaving it intentionally mottled and unblended.  After tucking the tab under the panel in then top right corner, I adhered the scene flat to the card front with Liquitex Matte Medium (I pour off into a smaller applicator bottle with precision tip -- WAY cheaper).  The final elements - both dinosaurs and the sentiment - were adhered with foam tape.

I hope you find this card fun too!  It sure makes me chuckle!

Until next time.. xo
