My sweet mom was so kind to give me some early Christmas card business. She wanted something simple but elegant. Gold embossing worked wonders in helping to bring her vision to life. She loved the images in Simon Says Stamp's Nativity set--they give a stained glass "feel" with their lines and design. Since she was visiting today, she was able to assist with the layout in person and get to see and provide input on the card as I made it.
After embossing all images in gold, we decided that a light wash of color to the holy family would add just enough interest without distracting from the overall feel. I watercolored the outer robes of Mary and Joseph and the swaddle of baby Jesus with distress inks. I simply adore the overall affect! The balance is so lovely and delicate, and the colors are such a nice contrast to most Christmas cards. Delicate lines, a whisper of color.. perfect!
If anyone else is interested in ordering a card like this, please feel free to contact me! I would love to recreate this elegant card for you too!
