Sometimes we need to a card design that is quick but still makes a presence.
I wanted to make a unicorn themed card to brighten a sweet girl's day and planned on using Waffle Flower's Magical stamp and die set. I love how the image can be built up from a regular horse image into either a unicorn or pegasus with wings! The sentiments lend themselves both to birthdays and the winter holiday.
Since neither of those were sentiments that I needed for this card, I cup the "Be" from the front of one of the longer sentiments and simply added the very beautiful "Magical" to complete my sentiment. I embossed both words in gold since gold always seems befitting for anything unicorn. I stamped the horse, unicorn horn and extra mane with comic friendly black ink and colored with Copic markers. I wanted to keep the colors simple--the mane and tail are a beautiful soft bubblegum pink, as is his muzzle and cheeks, and I used the same warm yellow for his horn and hooves. The body was shaded in B000 and W0 just for some depth. After cutting with the coordinating dies, I glued on his horn and mane. I just the front panel down to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8", leaving just a peek of a white border around the lavender card front. For the window, I used a Mama Elephant die to cut the opening and inked a light cloudy sky onto the card base where the window would be. I attached the front panel to the card base with foam tape and adhered the leaping unicorn into the window, giving the impression that he is leaping out of that cloudy sky. As a final touch of magic, I painted some shimmer onto the unicorn's horn, mane, tail, and blushing cheek.
