Today I'm sharing a pair of projects from the Spellbinders September 2025 new release Starry Holiday Collection by Dina Wakley. These press plates can be used to create holiday cards with a more artistic, mixed media feel. I must confess, I love them. The background plates alone are fantastic and can be used all year. (Affiliate links are used throughout at no additional cost to you. Any small commission I make goes toward my craft fund so I can continue to create and share with you. xx) Be sure to check out the entire new September 2025 releases.

My first card features the most adorable chubby little bird. I pressed the background dots (or falling snow) with silver pigment ink onto a piece of blue cardstock. Next, I pressed the bird with BetterPress Black Ink onto red cardstock and added depth with my OLO alcohol markers. The ornament was pressed with white pigment ink onto a textured sage cardstock from my stash. Using the DecoColor Premium Gold Metallic Marker and Sparkle Splatter Effects, I added interest to both the cardinal's crown and the ornament. To create the snowy ground, I embossed a torn scrap of white paper with the Damask 3D Embossing Folder, adding a nice bit of Sparkle Splatter Effects as well. I die cut out the additonal elements, adding gold to the bow, and tucked them all around the ornament nestled into the snow. Our regal bird sits atop the ornament, sentiment held with his wee feet.

My second card is much more clean and simple. (I love clean and simple cards.)

I pressed the starry sky plates with gold pigment ink onto light blue cardstock, moving the smaller plate (lacking the moon) down the right side so the stars covered the entire right side of the card panel. Next, I pressed the deer with Clay BetterPress Ink and lightly inked with a wee blending brush. A bit of shimmer was added to his antlers and white pen to his spots and eye. I tore a couple strips of vellum for the ground, added the sentiment strip, and popped up the deer with foam dots. The panel was then mounted onto a kraft card base. I love its simplicity.
