Mermaid Jar for Gecko Galz Quarterly Challenge

I told fellow friend, crafter, and DT lead Kim that I planned to play along in the Gecko Galz Quarterly Challenge: Altered Mason Jar.  While I didn't use a mason jar, she did approve my upcycled lidded glass jar for the challenge.  I initially intended to use the Airship Pirates from this month's ATC challenge (freebie collage), but then shifted gears.  How could I resist mermaids?!  (If you missed my Airship Pirate ATC, check out that project and blog here:  Airship Pirate ATC for Gecko Galz Challenge.)

I used images from the Mermaid Dreams Junk Journal Kit to embellish my jar.

I created various layers using a reef from the kit and solid paper from my stash.  Various elements are added with foam adhesive for more visual interest.

Here's a peek at the lid.

I embellished the back of the scene with this beautiful image from the kit.

A final picture of the jar with the lid off.  You get a better view of the mermaid within.  Isn't this so fun?!
