Dimensional Maple Leaf Cards

The October release with i-Crafter boasts a lovely collection of autumn dies. (Affiliate links used in this post; I appreciate your support!)  I paired the new Folded Maple Leaf (222181) with the Buffalo Plaid Stencil for this card duo.

To begin, I ink smooshed distress oxide inks onto a piece of regular printer paper; I wanted to imitate the lightness of actual crunchy fall leaves.  I used Vintage Photo, Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, Antique Linen, and Rustic Wilderness.  Using Antique Linen, I stenciled two 4" x 5.25" red card panels that had been lightly distressed on the edges.  The words were die cut from scraps of packaging cardboard and ombre inked with Spiced Marmalade on the word "autumn" and Rustic Wilderness on the word "happy".  I liberally applied wet glue to the bottoms of the leaves to adhere them to the stenciled panel, laying a block on top to keep them flat while they dried.  I glued the words flat to the card, although a second die cut layer beneath would have been lovely as well.  The final touch was a spritz of gold gloss spray from Dina Wakley (I LOVE THIS STUFF) purchased from Piece Craft Love.
