Kindred Stamps Mini Pocket Letter Swap - Love Letter

I'm so excited to announce our first ever mini pocket letter swap with Kindred Stamps (affiliate links used; thank you)!  I've seen these popping up in the group and have enjoyed making them in the past.  I'm still a newbie in the pocket letter game but really enjoy it and hope all of you will too.  This swap will be managed on Elfster--names will be drawn at random on Monday, February 7 (sign up through Sunday, February 6) with your pocket letter to be mailed by Monday, February 14.  Don't wait for the name draw to start creating though!!  You can mail your pocket letter after the name draw.  PLEASE make sure to mark it "SHIPPED" in Elfster as well.  I will create an album in the Kindred Stamps Fan Club with the same graphic for everyone to post their received letters.  Remember: I am not swapping these for you (like our ATC swaps) and the person you are sending to is likely NOT the person sending to you.

If you want to join in on the fun, sign up HERE!

The theme for our first mini pocket letter swap is Love Letter. Snarky love, mushy love, love it so much you hate it, you get the idea.

But what exactly is a mini pocket letter you may ask?  Well, I've got you covered.  Not only do I have an example for you, but a trio of amazing Kindred stampers have also so lovingly created samples for you with descriptions of how they created them.

The Basics:  A mini pocket letter is simply a row of three card collector page pockets filled with things -- ATCs (see tab above for info on those), shaker elements, mini notebook, folded letter, the list goes on.  I know that is vague, but trust me, the examples will help answer your questions.  To create the "holder", merely chop a plastic card collector page into 3 rows--each row can be used to create a single pocket letter.  So, one full 9-pocket card collector page yields 3 rows of 3 attached pockets for a total of 3 mini pocket letters.

Now for that inspiration I promised.  Presenting in alphabetical order (since that is the least biased way), I bring you Flower, Magaly, and Marissa.  My own example is last.

I used Kindred Stamps "Heaven and Hell" Stamp set to make this pocket letter as a tribute to my favorite new fandom. The characters in this set are pretty versatile but I was so excited to use them this way. The Kindred Stamps Spooky Tree die just felt perfect as a background for one of the backgrounds. The dudes are colored with Copic markers. The wings are a rubber and wooden block stamp I had on hand because I love vintage stamps! They are white embossed then inked with Spectrum Noir glitter on white stamping card. I hope you find some inspiration here and happy crafting!

I whipped up this mini pocket letter using the evil sea witch from Villianous by Kindred Stamps, as the main focus. I colored her up with my favorite Caliart Alcohol markers and then die cut some black and purple tentacles using Tentalicious by Jane Davenport for dramatic effect. Before adding anything to my pockets, I made sure the purple and green sequin mix I picked up for Halloween, was secure in its pocket with foam tape. Next the tedious parts, ripping patterned paper down to size, hand-drawing a crown on glittered paper until pleased enough to cut it out and using a sculpting tool on gold shiny cardstock to create the seashell necklace. I had to color white twine with a brown marker to match the necklace and wrapped it around the sea witches tentacles. With the Stitched Alpha Die Set, I made the word ‘sing’ and also Ocean Scene Craft Die on pink vellum, colored with light violet, to put together a spooky scene on gray cardstock, of a pair of poor unfortunate souls about to pay the price for dealing with the villainous witch.

For this mini pocket letter, I wanted to keep it simple but elegant since it was my first time making one. I found some filmstrip ribbon in my stash which served as my inspiration. I cut out the base ATCs in Silver cardstock with a layer of brushed gold cardstock. The confetti includes black sequins, stars and confetti cutouts from Dancing Music Notes Confetti Die from Hero Arts. I used the same music notes to embellish each character’s ATC. The stamp sets used were Rock On & Legends from Kindred Stamps. I used some stash washi, letter die cuts and flowers. Characters were colored with Copics. About me: I’ve been crafting for over 20 years specifically focused on fiber arts most recently enamored with crafting Amigurumi and in the paper goods world I enjoy making cards. My IG was born out of a gratitude project where I decided to make 100 handmade items and give them away. I’m Latinx so you’ll see culture sprinkled throughout my creations. I’m an advocate for communities of “other” in my day job & that spills over to my handmade creations here too!

I share all of my gruesome details on my blog: Kindred Stamps: One For Me.  I did not add a shaker element to my example, but I easily could have filled the center pocket with sparkly things and sealed shut.
