Kindred Stamps February Release - Yo Ho

Thank you for joining the blog hop for Kindred Stamps's February mini release!!  There may only be three sets, but they are all so great!  I feel like I say that every month, but it is true.  Every month!  (lol)  I happily played with Yo Ho, every pirate lover's dream set!  There may not be an over abundance of characters, but the essentials are there and so perfect--a salty pirate, saucy maiden, and pirate ship.  There are 7 sentiments and every pirate's signature skull and crossbones (which happen to fit on the sail of the ship).

I created three separate cards using the Yo Ho set, but I have so many more ideas!  I love that the lady can be used outside of this set as well.  Versatility is important to me (and I'm sure it is to many others).  I will also share my Yo Ho Coloring Guide for the images you see above in a future blog post.  My notes have gone missing at the moment!  (Ack!)

This card is one of my favorites, actually.  I love this maiden character!  I wanted to twist the common pirate phrase "Yo Ho" into something a bit funnier.  This is where my mind went.  (I know..)  To mimic a frame, I matted the image with red cardstock and used acetate over the front.  A fun hidden message is revealed when the card is opened, hidden beneath the banner on the card front.  This card makes me chuckle every time I see it.  The colors are so warm, and the message is a riot.  I hope you agree.

The moment I saw this set, I knew I had to make a clear card front.  It is surprisingly easy to assemble; I will blog the details soon.  It was hard to chose a sentiment with so many fun options but settled upon this one.  I stamped each portion in a different metallic ink for interest and to mirror the colors of the ocean below.  The skull and cross bones are embossed in white on the main sail of the black pirate ship.

Please remember to hop over to the other designers' blogs for this month's mini release.  If you want the chance to win a $10 credit at KindredStamps.com, you must comment on all of the blogs below.  The winner will be chosen at 9:00PM EST on Wednesday, February 14th (Valentine's Day!!) and the credit will be applied to their Kindred Rewards account.  Also, if you haven't joined the Kindred Stamps Fan Club on Facebook, you should!  It is a very active group, full of inspiration, encouragement, and laughs.

I would love to know which of my three cards was your favorite for this release.  I can't wait to see what fun all of you will have with Yo Ho too!!

Until next time.. xo
