There may not be as many sets for the December Kindred Stamps release, but that doesn't mean it isn't just as awesome as always. I was delighted to play with the new 2"x6" stamp set Strong Maiden (available this Friday at 11am EST).
I love a watercolored card so I couldn't resist creating a simple watercolored backdrop for our maiden using Arteza Real Brush Pens. Her simple window seat with soft curtains are simple enough not to compete with her. Naturally, the sentiment is fun.
For this card, I started by stenciling the background using the Distress Brick stencil and Fired Brick distress oxide ink. I use these makeup brushes for my stenciling (and love them!). To create the look of blood stains on the brick, I smooshed red watercolor ink onto the brick in a few vertical sections. This scene is very iconic and dramatic, with such a seemingly simple pair of sentiments.
My final project was a lot of fun for me; I love to sew and never have enough time to do all of the things I enjoy. I sewed this simple book cover using a fat quarter of red fabric purchased from a big box store, adding our maiden stamped onto a pre-cut canvas ATC. I stamped the image in Momento Luxe Tuxedo Black and colored with fabric markers and Copics (very carefully, not to mess up my marker nib).
The sentiments were stamped using Momento Luxe in Espresso Truffle, with the "Resist" sentiment on the back stamped in black.
I followed this video tutorial from Riley Blake for the construction of the book cover. I left my edges raw inside since they are neither seen nor suffer wear.
