Jaded Blossom's October Challenge

The first Sunday of the month brings in the next Jaded Blossom Challenge.  The October Monthly Challenge is a Sketch Challenge, pictured below.

I had fun with one of their summer release sets Mew Did It.  My mom's birthday was the last week so I made this one for her; she loves cats (and so do I)!  I don't often use a lot of patterned paper on my cards, but I admit that I really enjoyed layering for this card (and will be doing more of this in the future).  If you look closely, you can see the kitty has left claw marks on that corrugated paper in a failed attempt to snag that yarn bow.  

I colored the kitty with Copic markers, selecting a color that would pop against the background.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment on a strip of scrap charcoal cardstock to layer atop the top horizontal layer, overlapping the edge of the corrugated circle a bit.  

The bit of yarn at the top was a last minute "Aha!" moment and I can't imagine the card without it.  My 4 year old daughter even noticed that that poor kitty was trying to catch the yarn.  :)
