This little sun is so darn happy! I love his sweet smile and exuberant expression. I used the Embossing Folder of the Month Club to create a bokeh blue sky background. I only used 3 of the 5 layers, using a lighter hand with the white ink for each layer. It is really cool in person, tilting the card to catch the effect.
To create this poolside scene, I used two circle dies to create the orange pool floatie and oval dies to create the pool. To give the floatie dimension, I inked the inner and outer edges with darker orange then added a highlight with white oxide ink and a detail brush. It was pretty quick and looks so cool! I lightly inked the pool's embossed areas with white pigment ink, misted with shimmer mist, and splattered a glossy medium (Goosebumps) over the surface to look like water splatter.
I wanted to feature the sun's sweet face without the stitching element so I layered him upon the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, inking a glow of yellow around him to emulate his sun rays. I rubbed the embossed details with gold powder then splattered with yellow media spray. It's a happy summer hello.
