This will be brief; alas, I need sleep and the time always escapes me. But I at least wanted to show my process photos for this super fun Golden Girls inspired card!! The set is Stay Golden from Kindred Stamps, and those characters are too darn cute! I seriously struggled with their hair. Those of you that color feel my pain. Hair is so difficult sometimes! And their wavy, curly hair created an interesting challenge. The first picture shows the images before I decided to give Dorothy a makeover. :) I definitely wanted to use the cheesecake slice and thought it would make an adorable border for the card. I think it is fun to see other crafters share their process--it helps me in my own creativity too. Again, if you have any questions about specific products or technique I may have used, ASK! :) I blog to share and offer help and encouragement! So, let me help if I can. As always.. xo
After her new hairdo. :)
Next, fussy cutting!
I played with my layout after stamping the tropical leaf background. It didn't bother me that the images weren't super crisp. I had a lot going on with the card, so I was ok with it not being a complete. The eye doesn't rest there -- it rests on the stars of the show!
I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine onyx black ink AFTER using black embossing powder a couple times. I'm somewhat particular, and was never fully satisfied with the result. Despite using copious amounts of anti-static powder, I still had little black flecks and wasn't pleased. Yes, I could have stamped over the sentiment in clear embossing powder, but, again, felt that extra step wasn't entirely necessary. I added Glossy Accents to the cheesecake topping for a little something extra, and mounted Sophia and the sentiment on foam tape, the other sassy ladies and border where glued directly to the card front.
I adore how this card turned out! What do you think? Is it a hit or a miss?
Until next time.. thank you for being a friend. ;)
I’m desperately trying to find these stamps. I have been searching everywhere. Can you help me? Thanks so much.
Love this card. Any idea where we can buy these stamps.

Please email me either way.

This is too darn cute!!! Did you have to cut them out by hand? Do they sell a coordinated die to go with it?
